McLean, Va., February 17, 2022 – Numeracle™ Inc. (“Numeracle”), the pioneer of Verified Identity™ for communications, announced the release of its third STIR/SHAKEN Implementation Report (“Implementation Report”) summarizing voice service provider progress implementing the STIR/SHAKEN Caller ID Authentication Framework and Robocall Mitigation implementation count milestones since the September 28, 2021 deadline.
Service providers have continued to comply with FCC mandates to implement STIR/SHAKEN by filing within the Robocall Mitigation Database, which breaks down into multiple sections to address varying levels of implementation (full, partial, none, and N/A). This follow-up report compares the current count of those who have implemented to these degrees since the last deadline as well as the milestones the database has reached to date.
The FCC’s next focus is on gateway providers who are the point of entry for foreign calls into the U.S. that may be originating bad actor traffic abroad, affecting the future of the Robocall Mitigation Database and its implementation counts. The FCC’s Fourth (WC Docket No. 17-97) and Fifth (CG Docket No. 17-59) FNPRM’s with proposals to place additional efforts on gateway providers have been met with great industry support.
In response, all fifty-one State Attorneys General motioned in full support of requiring gateway providers to fully implement the STIR/SHAKEN framework and the requirement to file Plans in the Robocall Mitigation Database until they can fully implement the framework. With the FCC currently reviewing gateway provider responses in the Database, those that have filed in the N/A category may soon be required to partially or fully implement the caller ID authentication framework.
